VILLA CARDS
1945-1949
The post-war years saw Villa rebuilt, but only to the level of a mid-table side in the old 1st Division. Apart from entertaining bumper crowds with players such as Trevor Ford, Villa achieved little of note. Post-war paper shortages meant the publication of football cards was much less common than it had been a decade earlier, and for cigarette brands, the inclusion of that extra piece of card was a luxury too far.
