Played for Villa: 1911-1921
Position: Outside left
Appearances: 86
One of several Villa stars of the day, whose careers were cut back by World War. Edgley was well-established by 1914, with a couple of solid seasons of first-team football under his belt (he featured heavily in the championship runner-up season of 1913-14). His few war games accounted for half of his 20s, but in 1919 he came back to prominence, scoring in the semi-final of the 1920 FA Cup, but missing the final itself due to a broken leg, sustained on the same Stamford Bridge pitch the final itself would be played on a few weeks later. Edgley was sold to QPR in 1920.
