An Englishman who had lived in America before becoming a professional footballer, playing among others for Derby County prior to joining Villa in 1912. A regular squad player, he appeared in both League runner-up seasons 1912-13 and 1913-14 and scored his only Villa goal against West Ham in the Cup run of 1913 (he did not play in the latter stages of the competition). Morris served in battle in World War I, and also appeared in a couple of Villa war games, but his footbal career fizzled out and he hung up his boots in 1921.
