Played for Villa: 1936-1939
Position: Inside right
Appearances: 110
Signed in 1934, and on the books until 1945, Freddie Haycock in fact only played three seasons for Villa, having to wait two years after signing for his first-team debut, and then dropping out at the end of the War. His contribution to the 1937-1938 promotion season was his finest hour; he scored the team's first and last goals of that campaign, and netted 17 times, including the FA Cup quarter-final winner against Manchester City in March. The War period saw him represent the club dozens more times, but he never made a senior appearance thereafter. He moved instead to Wrexham for a few swansong appearances in the Third Division North.
