Played for Villa: 1933-1937
Position: Inside forward
Appearances: 104
Half of a double-signing from Blackburn Rovers (along with his left-winger partner Arthur Cunliffe), Ronnie Dix debuted for Villa on the final day of the 1932-1933 season, thereby claiming a Football League Runner-up honour, for just 90 minutes' effort! (His partner in crime, Cunliffe, did likewise but at least scored a goal.) Dix would be a regular first-teamer in the seasons which followed, with 18 goals to his name prior to the calamatous relegation of 1936. He found life much easier in Division 2, notching up a further 12 in 18 games, but perhaps found second-tier football unrewarding. He moved to Derby County mid-season, The Rams then a formidable 1st Division side who would finish the campaign in fourth.
