Played for Villa: 1934-1937
Position: Full back
Appearances: 71
Dropped straight into the first team following a player swap with Sheffield Wednesday over the summer of 1934, Beeson was first-choice full-back and rarely missed a game until the arrival of Tom Griffiths and George Cummings in late-1935, as part of Villa's failed attempt to stave off relegation. Having lost his place overnight, Beeson remained with Villa into the miserable Second-Division campaign of 1936-1937, where 14 first-team appearances suggested he might regain his status. But it was not to be, and Beeson moved up the road to Walsall during that campaign. Surrounded by star names at Villa, Beeson has been largely fogotten by club historians, his commemoration on a single 1934 cigarette card a useful reminder of a footballer who pitched in 71 times for the Villans.
