Played for Villa: 1900-1914
Position: Forward
Appearances: 474
A much-celebrated figure in Villa's history, Bache knocked in 184 goals for the club in a decade and a half of service, in which he was team captain for eight years. His glittering career at Villa included a League title in 1910 as well as two FA Cup triumphs. (Capped by England, he also scored in each of his first four appearances.) Bache joined the army in World War I, whereupon his Villa days effectively ended. He later played a small number of games for Grimsby, before hanging up his boots for good. The record books show Bache fourth in the table of all-time Villa goal scorers, and he also has the fourth-highest tally of appearances.
